AUGUST MEETING

WHITE WATER RAFTING

WEDNESDAY 10TH AUGUST 2011

at the 2012 Olympic Venue at Lee Valley Water Park

We were among the first people in the world to try out this amazing course

We booked two 9 man rafts exclusively for our use at 6.00pm.

Check here for the details of the centre:

We met at The Roffen for a few liveners and then jumped on the Coach to Waltham Cross, North London.

Apologies from:  Tony & Gary on holidays, Ron at a wedding - everyone else turned up, in August, normally our quietest month.

A trouble free journey got us there in time to pop into the cafe there for a few more liveners and a quick look at the course.

A sample of a few of the comments:-  "Is that it?"  "Only 300 meters long?"  "Not much of a drop is there!"  "Oh well, we are here now"

Oh how we regretted our initial impressions - Oh how wrong we were!

THIS IS WHAT WE EXPECTED - NICE, CALM, ORDERLY.....

THIS IS WHAT WE GOT.....

NOT WHAT WE FRIGGING EXPECTED AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How we all got back alive is a mystery, we spent at least as much time out of the boats as we spent in!

To say we underestimated the power of the course is an understatement.

To say that we had fun (bumps and bruises excluded) is also an understatement.

The fact that we were last down the course, and that we had revved up the instructors with how hard we all are

almost certainly had a bearing on our repeated dunkings!  I cannot imagine that our experience was normal!!!!!

more to come when I get time....
